In 1999 Total Telecom launched the first ever World Communication Awards with the winners named in Geneva during the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) World Telecom event. The winners saw prizes going to companies including Equant, World Online, and Sonera. 26 years later, the industry has moved on. Company names have changed, categories have evolved, but winners pick up the same iconic sail trophy at a dinner packed with their peers.
